RIISAM204E – Operate small plant and equipment
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to operate small plant and equipment in the resources and infrastructure industries.
The unit applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of own work outcomes.
Generally, two-three pieces of small plant and equipment will be used in training. Training is customised to include specific items of small plant and equipment used in your workplace.
The course covers:
- Key policies, procedures and documentation required to operate small plant and equipment
- Small plant and equipment types, characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations
- Material types, characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations
- Conducting pre-operational checks
- Identifying and managing site hazards
- Identifying and using correct operating techniques to achieve optimum output while maintaining specified tolerances
- Correctly storing equipment
- Completing operator maintenance
- Clearing the work area.
The nationally recognised qualification RIISAM204E Operate small plant and equipment, is delivered under a third-party agreement by V.E.T. Centre (QLD) on behalf of All States Training RTO #32577.
All States Training RTO #32577 is the Registered Training Organisation that issues certification upon successful completion of the accredited course.
