V.E.T. Centre has a long history of successfully training our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
For over 25 years we have worked in regional and remote Indigenous communities across Australia, training ‘on-job, on-country’ with very positive outcomes.
Our aim is to make a real difference, by providing Indigenous Australians with the opportunities and tools to build a positive future for themselves.
V.E.T. Centre’s Indigenous work is underpinned by the philosophy of inclusivity. We work with all Mobs who invite us onto their Country.
V.E.T. Centre is the provider of choice for pastoral staff workplace compliance training for:
Woorabinda Pastoral Company, QLD – an Indigenous owned mixed farming operation, whose purpose includes educating and encouraging Indigenous youth into the pastoral industry;
Kimberly Agriculture and Pastoral Company (KAPCO), WA – comprising four Indigenous owned beef cattle stations in northern WA; and
Yawuru Holdings, WA – an Indigenous corporation whose assets include Roebuck Plains Station, covering over 276,000 hectares in the Kimberly region.
We have also successfully devised and delivered pastoral job readiness programs to Indigenous youth in conjunction with the Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association and the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation.
In 2021, V.E.T. Centre devised and facilitated the inaugural Aboriginal Pastoral Training Academy, on behalf of WA’s Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. A key component of the WA Government’s Aboriginal Pastoral Industry Workforce Development Strategy, the APA was designed to encourage Aboriginal people to enter and build a career in the WA pastoral industry.
