Course Overview
RIIMPO318F – Conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations (Bobcat/ Skid Steer Licence)
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required operate a skid steer loader to load, haul and distribute materials. It applies to those working in site based roles.
The course covers all aspects of skid steer loader operations in the civil construction industry including:
- Selecting equipment and confirming suitability for work activities
- Fitting and testing attachments
- Conducting prestart and start-up checks prior to commencing operations
- Identifying and acting upon faults and defects
- Techniques to suit different work conditions
- Loading, carrying and placing materials within operating limits
- Parking up, shutting down and securing equipment
- Moving equipment safely between work areas
- Cleaning up after operations.
The nationally recognised qualification RIIMPO318F Conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations, is delivered under a third-party agreement by V.E.T. Centre (QLD) on behalf of All States Training RTO #32577.
All States Training RTO #32577 is the Registered Training Organisation that issues certification upon successful completion of this accredited course.

Course Duration
This course takes from 1 day of face-to-face classroom and practical training/ assessment, depending on experience.

- Long sleeve high visibility shirt
- Long pants
- Sun protection
- Water bottle
- Lunch
Why do this course?
A skid steer loader or bobcat is an extremely versatile and useful machine, but it can pose serious risks if not used correctly.
If not operated correctly the machine can roll over on soft or steep ground. Workers can be pinned between the bucket and frame of the machine or between the lift arms and frame. They can also be struck and crushed by the bucket, bucket arms or material falling from the bucket.
If you are using a skid steer loader/ bobcat at work, you need to be able to demonstrate that you have been properly trained and formally assessed.
This course is necessary for anyone who operates a skid steer loader/ bobcat as part of their work routines.
