Sometimes, using a motorbike is smarter and safer than a quad bike or side-by-side utility vehicle.
This course gives you the skills and knowledge required to undertake pre-start checks, safely operate and shut down two wheel motorbikes. It covers you from basic maintenance through to advanced riding techniques in rough terrain.
Course Overview
AHCMOM201 – Operate two wheel motorbikes
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to undertake pre-start checks, operate and shut down two wheel motorbikes. It applies to individuals who operate two wheel motorbikes to undertake routine work under general supervision with limited autonomy and accountability.
The course covers:
- Legislative requirements and safe working practices
- Pre-operational checks
- Selection and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Environmental and biosecurity implications associated with motorbike operation
- Safe riding techniques over a variety of surfaces, slopes and terrain
- Shut down procedures
- Basic maintenance checks
- Loading, unloading and securing of two wheel motorbikes.
The nationally recognised qualification AHCMOM201 Operate two wheel motorbikes, is delivered under a third-party agreement by V.E.T. Centre (QLD) on behalf of All States Training RTO #32577.
All States Training RTO #32577 is the Registered Training Organisation that issues certification upon successful completion of this accredited course.
Course Outcomes
It is expected that participants should acquire knowledge, skill and understanding of the following areas:
- Prepare a two wheel motorbike for operation
- Operate a two wheel motorbike
- Conduct shut down procedures
Course Duration
This course takes from 1 day of face-to-face classroom and practical training/ assessment, subject to experience.
What to bring on the day
Each person will need to bring the following:
- Steel cap work boots
- Long sleeve shirt
- Long pants
- Helmet
- Safety gloves
- Eye protection
- Water bottle
- Lunch
Note: Participants must supply their own two-wheel motorbike.

Operating motorbikes is a high-risk, potentially hazardous activity.
If you are using a motorbike at work, you need to be able to demonstrate that you have been properly trained and formally assessed.
